Any Deer Hunters Here?

Just booked my fall deer hunt in NC. First week of November. Up to six (6) deer per license. Seems a bit, but conservationists tell us that there are more deer in NA today than when the country was "discovered" (as if it was lost, or something) by Europeans. Hunting out of the Lily Pond Creek lodge. Includes room & board and they take care of dressing the deer. Think I'll take the Win Model 100 in .308, Marlin 1895 in 38-56 and Savage Model 99EG in .300 Savage. Leupold VX-3 4.5-14x on the Win, aperture tange sight w/globe front on the 1895 and open iron sights on the Model 99. Yum......... can almost taste the venison. Only five (5) months.

Just remember that should you have too much venison, there are those of us who will make the sacrifice for the greater good and take your excess venison off your hands.

That's just what my brother said. Never hunted in MI. Spent almost a winter up there. The high the first 19 days of Jan was single digits. I was gone shortly thereafter. Even NJ (the southern end, no less) where I live now, is way too cold in the winter. Most of my hunting has been wing-shooting (quail, pheasant, dove, ducks, etc.), with the occasional deer & elk hunt every few years. Plan is for antelope in 2012 and elk in 2013.

I spend virtually every weekend from September to December in the woods looking for deer. Most of my deer hunting is done with a bow.
