Which USB cable
Just got started on computer music using my sons old MacBook Pro running amarra. Currently feeding a dcs Puccini u clock and Puccini DAC. For starters, just used a generic $7 USB 2 cable. I'm looking at a 2m length of WW starlight which seems very reasonably priced. Or should I just jump to the silver and get the upgrade bug over with?

Considering the DCS gear you're using, I personally couldn't imagine that the Silver Starlight as suggested by Ivan wouldn't be your starting point of consideration. If it were me, I'd just get the platinum and be over with it.

I too am looking for a decent USB cable, nothing to the extent of the items mentioned in this thread though. I'm looking at the Ultraviolet or Starlight. I want to spend as little as possible for the best quality possible. I need it to be at least 1.5m in length.
It'll be connecting my freshly rebuilt 4 year old Toshiba Satellite laptop to my Schiit Bifrost which I have the latest USB and Uber analog boards coming (just ordered this morning). I want to spend a max of about $60 on the USB cable. No more.

From everything I have read, the Ultraviolet sounds great and is dead silent. It also seems that the Starlight doesn't make much improvement if any at all over the Ultraviolet.
