Default My Skyfall Review

Just came back from seeing Skyfall. This was the first movie i've taken the time to see at the theater in about a year, so its no surprise I had high expectations. The movie had all the right parts including action similar to previous movies but it was missing a few things. First, the movie took a much darker turn for Bond and I'm not sure it made for a better movie. Second, the grand scale of the movie was missing, in the last two Bond's, there were tangible major things at stake: gun runers, terrorists, organized crime, stock manipulation, control of entire governments. The scale of this movie was one mans revenge and he went about it more like Dr. Evil from Austin Powers then James Bond. Instead of just capturing M and torcher her or humiliating her, he devised an elaborate multi-year plan to get captured and then break out, and it goes on and on. There was some strange character development too, the main Bond girl started to be developed, but was quickly and unceremoniously killed, at least we think she was killed??

Conclusion: All the individual segments of the movie were good, but there wasn't enough cohesion to tie them all together because of a weak plot line. I wont be buying this one.

-- Perhaps that flick requires multiple viewings?

* Would 3D have helped?

Maybe, I dont think it was too complex though, just not a great plot. It was no Casino Royal (the remake of course, not the 1967 horror)

-- I've heard that it has more character study in it, and less action scenes.
...Plus the new 'Q' factor, and the 'M' affair.

The Q factor wasn't much of a factor

Spent too much time in SE Asia -- not many of those ratings around. When one happen-chanced on a viewing, they were 5 star.
