Default New amps ordered !

Hello folks,

I have finally bought a Shindo amp to try on the WP8.
Yes, I know, I said that I was fed up with permanent upgrades and it is true.
I do not consider this like an upgrade at this time. Will see how it sounds against the 2301's but I'm sure that it won't be better. It will be different.
And I'm looking for that. Different flavors. I love my 2301's highly and will keep them all my life. I just need to "cheat" a little bit.
I do not cheat my wife. I can cheat my amps. It is legal.
Moreover, this is made to continue my collection of tube amplifiers.
I got caught by all of you damn shindoists !!!
It will be the third one now, since I have the 2301's and the Manley Snappers.

Moreover, thinking about my friend Cathy, I decided that life is too short to get bored. Getting a new amp each year excites me ? why not if I have the funds ??? I will be dead tomorrow anyway.

Who will guess what amp(s) will land ?

Wish me good luck !

Many congrats Jerome, figure they all bring the green magic with them...

so for my guess while logic says Corton Charlemagne I think you might actually be a Lafon kind of guy... bigger than life and plenty of heart... hope the Shindo bring you even more musical joy.

best wishes and good luck
Graham

Yes, congrats Jerome. I know you have been trying to scratch the Shindo itch for quite some time now. I like the way you justify buying new gear!

But seriously, I understand your logic and am in full agreement with it. If one is capable, life is too short not to enjoy the way you want.

I agree with Graham on the model. The CC's have the power to drive the WP8's but they use the same tube as your 2301's. So I will also guess the Lafon's. While their 20 watts may not push the WP8' to concert levels, they should suffice and give you a different flavor than what you currently own.

Enjoy whatever you decided on

Congratulations Jérôme!
Another reason to visit you again.
I do not need audio stores for auditions anymore.

Jerome, congrats! It will be a fun experiment with Shindo and Wilson. I think as long as your expectations are reasonable in terms of overall dynamics and the level at which you would play, it will be a very rewarding combo. Don't forget that Wilson speakers would probably load the amp where it doesn't really want to go in terms of impedance dips.

Jerome, could it be the second hand Sinhonia in UK? I'm SO impatient to get your opinion/personal review of Shindo + Wilson Audio.

Jerome...congrats on the Shindo amp. I would also think the CC with KT88s (70wpc) is the logical partner to the W8s but I will guess that you got the CC with EL34 monos (25wpc), although the Manleys you have I believe are based on EL34 tubes. Maybe you did pull the trigger for the Lafons. Whichever it is congrats and enjoy it in good health.

I'll go ahead and vote slightly different: the CCQ. Same tube as the Manleys, but different enough tonality to make the similarity merely academic. Enough power (70 watts) to drive WP8's reasonably well. And, as is common with Shindo amps...it's pretty darned pretty as well.
