Default Alexia vs Vivid Giya G2

Read the article from Doug Schneider of Soundstage Hifi on the comparison between Alexia and Giya G2, strange to find him condemning Alexia without even seriously listening to them. Anyway, it looks like he never like Wilson Audio......

I have heard the G2 at our local agent and found it nothing special except for the strange shape but judging from the reviews specially from Doug, the G2 is second only to G1...probably I need to see a ear specialist.

I believe there is quite a number of Alexis and G2 owners here, would appreciate sharing your views on the sonic performance of this 2 speakers.

Thank You

They are both pretty good speakers. Our initial impressions of speakers can easily be colored by the set-up either good or bad.

I auditioned both the Alexias and the Giya G3's. Although the G2 were more similar in price, the Alexias sounded far better to me.

I am interested too in impressions of Alexia vs Giya.

I have the Wilson Sophia 3's and am contemplating a move to either the Sasha or the Alexia. Not sure which route I am taking yet.

Heard the Alexia about a month back. It's a damn good speaker for any Wilson audio subscriber, driven by McIntosh Mc1.2kw, C2300, Mcd500. You may look in the direction of the Maestro Utopia from Focal vs the Alexia, I think focal is slightly higher in price, but it's excellent, especially the extension of highs, openness of mids and effortless bass vs the Alexia.

If the price range for the Alexia is your limit, I think it's a no-regret move!

I seriously considered the Alexias; I loved what I heard at RMAF but had to jump through major hoops to listen to them again. I finally had to take a run out to Music Lovers in Berkeley when I was in the Bay Area for business.

In short, I loved what I heard from them quite a bit, but there's just something special about the Vivids that I didn't hear in the Alexia, and so I ultimately bought Giya G2s.

Who knows if things would have gone differently if a local dealer had a pair of Alexias I could have demoed in-home, but I can say I've not regretted my purchase of the G2s at all; they still delight me daily and every time I play an old favorite recording I hear something completely new that I had never known was there before.

That being said, the Alexias were certainly seductive and I'm sure I would have been delighted no matter which I had ultimately chosen; the Alexias are certainly a big step forward from my previous favorite Wilson speaker, the Sasha.

Bill, that is a beautiful color for the G2s!
Are these yours?

Appreciate all the informative comments and inputs, IMO every speaker at this price range is definitely good in their sonic performance, it's all down to personal preference.

When I decided to replace my ageing Alto Be 2 months ago, I went around auditing the various speakers; the Focal Scala, Vivid Giya G2, Raidho D1 & D2, Rockport Avior and Alexis all in different setups. My final decision went to Alexis after listening to the pairs driven by EMM labs mono blocks in the Hong Kong Show.

I got a pair of absidian black delivered last Wednesday and honestly it definitely sing better than the Alto even out of the box.

And yes, you made the right decision.

Congrats! Must say the Alexis is much newer, and is supposed to be a step up from the Alto & Scala. Tho the V2 is a great speaker out of the box too.
