CD ripping services
Has anyone used a CD ripping service to have their CDs converted to digital files? I am getting tired of ripping CDs and am ready to send them to somebody and have them do it. For a reasonable price. Any suggestions.

They provided the packing materials for shipping my CDs; took care of ripping the CDs in the formats (AIFF and FLAC) and directory/Raid structures I requested on an NAS I had drop-shipped to their location; and were careful to provide the highest quality rips including album cover meta data. They shipped back my CDs and NAS carefully and in a timely manner as promised. Great customer service! |

When I get a new unit I just rip as I listen. I kill two birds with one session. I know what music I listen to on a pretty regular basis so I have learned to skip ripping those albums that no longer interest me. In the past I have used these events to go thru my CD rack a cull music that no longer gets played. I trade them or give them away making room for new music. I can never remember thinking "gee I wish I had saved that disc". If it ever happens there is always Tidal and Rhapsody.
Once the ripping is complete every new disc gets burned when it arrives and also added to my Music Collector data base. |

I used "Ready To Play" last year.
I have thousands and thousands of cd's I wanted to rip. So many things went wrong. The most annoying of which was that some of my oldest, most rare cd's were literally ruined. The best I can guess is that the automatic rippers don't deal well with old polygram solid hub cd's, both German and US manufactured. Some other import discs didn't fare well, either. They claimed it was impossible for this to happen, but when every cd had the same hallmark of marks and scratches, it was pretty obvious something went very wrong. That, plus the number of metadata problems were a P.I.A. The guy in charge begged me not to do anything about it because he was a small operation. I do not recommend them. If I was more inclined, I would sue for breach of contract and damages. Of course, one signs away all responsibility when you pay for the service.

Refreshing this thread. I have to move everything out of my house for a reno, so I thought I would possibly send my cds away as part of the process and get them ripped. I also used "ready to play" several years ago and the quality was not up to par. Is dmp3digital still the one to use or has something else come up?
Thanks. |

I like DbPoweramp. Small cost and works great. You would be surprised how quickly you can burn 1,000 Cd's while performing other tasks on your computer.

I paid my kids 0.10 per disc. They were very happy.
