Differences between the SLP 05 and 98?
Anyone care to compare the two? I understand the 98 has more "Tube" sound.
Which is better with the 805? Thanks, Chris |

I had the '98 but traded it in for the '05. I never warmed up to the '98 mated with a pair of 805 incidentally. To me it did not sound right for some reason. It was only after I traded it for the '05 then someone told me that the '98 is inverting ! Checked the manual & sure enough - clearly stated that the output inverts. Too late.
In consolation, the '05 is pretty nice too. Regards, Joe Ling PS : one advantage that the '98 has over the '05 is that it has dual outputs in RCA unbalanced whereas the '05 has 1 RCA output while the other is XLR balanced output. The '98 can be used to drive 2 pairs of 805s which was my original intent.
