Probably, nothing is perfect. If you get different results with different cords on the same piece of gear then it might be the cords. However, my Sony XA-5400ES SACD player gives me grief with different cords.

I'd say it's both in my case. Different results on the same gear with different cords (BDP), and same result on a different piece of gear (TV) with different cords.

Well, the BDP misbehaved again last night. This time it cut off by itself shortly after being turned on. After about three attempts to re-seat the Stratus 7's IEC connector, I unplugged the IEC and plugged it back in.

A short time ago I tried the teflon tape and couldn't seem to get it to hold the Stratus' IEC in place. Perhaps I need to use more tape than I did; I wrapped it around the IEC about five–six times and used Scotch tape to hold it all in place, but all that happens is the tape is pushed back as the IEC enters the connector slot. Now, though, I've simply propped up the cord near its IEC with a small plastic container for the floor glides I use to level my equipment racks. Not elegant, but it does the job.

It might be interesting to try the Shunyata Venom 3s, currently on the TV, on the BDP or other component. There was a Stratus 5.2 on the TV previously, and no slip or droop. Despite the TV's IEC connection facing down, the Stratus never slipped or fell out of the socket. Neither does the Venom 3s.

You can use a black ty wrap to hold the Stratus to the vertical rack support also.

Or shove a little Blu-Tack in around the plug, especially on the bottom.

Those are those large plastic strips I see in catalogs and hardware stores, correct? And it's best if they're all plastic for my purposes, I'd think.

Blu-tack is tacky, will hold in place, and comes off easily with no residue.

Blu-Tak is yet another idea to explore, then. Meantime, I'm trying a velcro strip on the BDP's cord to see if that will work. The proximity of the player's IEC to the rear pole of the rack, combined wit the Stratus 7's relative inflexibility near the IEC make me unsure if the strip will hold. I could move the player forward, which might relieve some of the tension on the strip and give more slack to work with. We'll see. As for the ty wires, I know reusable ones are available. I'd want those in black; if I can find some, that's an option, if they're nice and long. Better than the velcro ties (which are for interconnects, primarily).

The Stratus IEC on the BD player is a pretty loose fit. I can understand why it could droop enough to lose connection. It "slides" into place more than it plugs in.

Pangea Audio has its new AC-14XL power cords using Cardas copper. The cords also have an IEC connector described as "death grip," having bigger contact blades than before. My velcro tie solution for the Wireworlds is working so far, but it's inelegant. Has anyone tried these Pangeas?
