I think in the long run I will also prefer staying native. I understand how MQA could benefit streaming by allowing higher resolution files to be streamed with less bandwidth - it's a lossy compression system that will let us hear 24 bit streamed as maybe 17 or 18 bit, which I guess is better than 16, but for building your own library it's still an extra processing step, and another algorithm being applied to the music. Maybe it's not traditional DRM, but it is in the sense that one company controls it, and gets paid royalties at each step. And since we all want to have the latest thing, we'll all want to have that little MQA light glowing on our DAC - and every time it lights up, someone will get another penny, or nickel, or whatever the royalty will be - none of which will go to the studio or the musician or the record company.

While some keep dragging their feet the list of companies getting behind MQA continues to grow. I copied this from another site.
Berkeley Audio Design is pleased to announce the introduction of MQA Rendering planned for Q2 of 2017 as a field installable upgrade for the Alpha DAC Reference Series 2. When used with MQA core decoding software such as TIDAL HiFi, Roon, Audirvana, etc. the Alpha DAC Reference Series 2 will provide full MQA decoding while minimizing processing noise within the DAC. This approach results in improved audio quality by splitting the MQA processing overhead between external software and the DAC, resulting in lower noise in the DAC and increased D to A conversion accuracy. Field installation of the MQA Rendering upgrade will be a simple process of placing the DAC in Update Mode by pushing several front panel buttons while powering the DAC on and then playing a provided 44.1 kHz, 16-bit WAV file that contains the software through any of the DAC’s digital inputs. Berkeley Audio Design is committed to providing the highest possible quality reproduction of MQA encoded recordings and we feel this approach strongly furthers that commitment. |

A look at MQA dac manufacturers supporting at this point:
MERIDIAN MYTEK BRINKMAN CARY AUDIO NAD MSB DCS BERKELEY AUDIO DESIGN AURENDER BEL CANTO AUDIOQUEST INTEGRA James, giving all respect to you, and the BRYSTON team. As well your present opinions on MQA. In all honesty, l am confidant that BRYSTON will at some point, wishfully support MQA upgraded software implementations.
