Made a few plan changes, decided on a staggered stud wall in which I'll end up with a 6 full inch air space and moving to 3 layer sheet rock application as adds mass.......The cieling will be a staggered stud application also but only two layers of sheet rock. I also decided against the floating floor as too many issues can arise, there is an excellent damping product I'm going to use along with the dual layer sub floor, should end up with a bit over 1.5 inches there. Another change was instead of having the left side wall be continous from front to back I notched it wider by three feet for 9 feet of the wall to create a alcove at the back part of the room, this will allow me to ditch the exterior door I was planning and going with a door that leads into the rest of the house plus the alcove will be perfect for LP storage.....also by eliminating the exterior door I can keep the window that would have had to come out, I will however replace it with a custom sound proof one, checking these out now.....if anyone building or planning on building soon here is a pic of the different wall types......

I'm curious about those Vicoustic panels. That is going to be one impressive room when you are finished.

The Vicoustic panels are nice, I just completed a room for a customer and used several of the wavewood model......one thing I did learn is using just a few is not very effective, it really takes several in a particular area for good results. I plan using 12 2'x2' wavewood panels on the wall behind the speakers to start with. I also have a case of Multifuser from them to mess around with also......
