Wyred 4 Sound Music Server
Does anyone have any experience with this music server? As I understand, it is based on VortexBox which means it can rip CD's, store the FLAC's, and run a software called BLISS to organize the files and tag them with cover art. It would be nice to see how it compares to the other music servers out there in both ease of use and quality of sound. VortexBox can play up to 32/384 so the W4S music server should be able to do the same.

Pete…The real question is how close to the original VortexBox is it? I have a VortexBox with the optional upgraded USB output with WireWorld Platinum USB to my MCD1100 which sounds real good but the VortexBox is much harder for ripping. I find that I rip my with my MS750's, transfer the files to the VortexBox and let BLISS tag them. Then I have to edit many of the tags. The MS750 uses Gracenote which is what Apple uses so it is more complete than the others. Gracenote is very expensive for vendors to license so most don't use it.
So the question is, how does this music server with recent updates compare to the MS750 and other servers for sound quality and ease of use? The Remedy elevates the sound quality of the MS750 so would a Remeday improve the music server or is the low jitter built in.

Larry.......The Wyred 4 Sound MS-2 music server interests me, too. It uses a built in transport to rip to FLAC, has 2TB of hard drive storage, upgradeable to 2TB SSD. There is 2 hours of free tech support if needed to get set up and a 3 year warranty. Not bad for $2499.00 for the HDD model and $3499.00 for the 2TD SSD version. Both have OS and Android apps for control.

I use BLISS frequently. I have about 3750 CD's that I have tagged with it so far. I rip a CD with my MS750, then copy it to a VortexBox which is the same operating system used by the W4S Music Server. Then BLISS scans the files, makes sure the directories, file names, and cover art are complete. Then I can play the music from the VortexBox with a special USB card and Platinum USB cable through the MCD1100 or use the SONOS Connect to play the files saved on the VortexBox through a Remedy to the MCD1100. The W4S Music server seems to have advantages over the VortexBox in that it is set up and warrantied by an audiophile company. I have not tried BLISS on a Mac or PC but understand it seems to work pretty well on those platforms as well.
