Default Which model? Music only.

I would like to add a subwoofer into my music system to tighten up the bottom end. I don't want anything slow and/or boomy, something fast and punchy. What would be the recommended model? The F110? I see a number of people using the F113.

Mostly Jazz, blues and some rock.

Thanks

Given the level of your other system components the new Fathom II series seems suitable. If your budget allows two subs are always preferable to one, so two f110 Mk. II subs would be fine. If you have a very large room you might consider the f112 or f113 II models, but you're better off with two smaller subs rather than one larger.

Yes I was thinking along the same lines, the f110 v2 is due in November in AU.

No specs on it yet though.

The mkII Fathoms are very similar to the original versions, with the most significant change being the much improved ARO (Auto Room Optimization). Other than that they have slightly more power and a bit more output. Prices have also been raised a bit.

Interesting, v1 are on special at 50% current RRP, might be worth getting on then.

Very interesting. Is the 50% off a promotion from the manufacturer?

I noticed that audiohippo is in Australia, so it may be a deal available there only. Any US dealers that can confirm availability of this 50% off deal?

No, just from a local store

I currently use two F110 subs and a CR-1 crossover with a pair of Focal Diablo monitors. My musical tastes are similar to yours and my room is of moderate size. I considered the larger Fathom subs and had the opportunity to speak with one of JLA's engineers. Given the quickness of the monitors and my system's two channel only use, he recommended the F110. I started with one F110, later added a second and then added the CR-1. I am delighted with the result. The bass output is quite well integrated with the monitors, the soundstage is deep and wide, image specificity is precise and, most importantly, the system makes music.

The measured in-room system response is quite flat, but it doesn't have the visceral impact I've read about other systems achieving by using larger subs. The system fits well with my musical tastes, but I believe that those that often listen to large scale material containing significant low bass information would find larger subs more to their liking.
