Maybe it’s because I’m based in Aus - that seems crazy though...

Enjoy your McIntosh amps!

Thanks Rojet15! I'm going to give another crack now that I know people have had success...

I can't provide any insights into your question. Sorry. But, the part about FedEx "signing" your deceased mother's signature had me shaking my head. They owe you an apology.

Even if you buy a pair of mono blocks with consecutive serial numbers, the circuit boards, transformers, power supplies and other internal parts making the unit are doubtfully made at the same time. Consecutive serial numbers only describe the time of the unit's assembly.

Consecutive numbers are unnecessary. If you want to feel good about "matched" amplifiers you should probably get them from a similar vintage production run. That's all you need and really all you will ever get in the attempt at a "matched" pair.

I really don't get why delivery drivers are allowed to forge signatures and then leave packages without even coming to the door. I had a UPS driver do that with my VPI Cyclone. It was a miracle it wasn't stolen. I am currently missing a package that was supposed to be signature required but never showed up. Post office is refusing to take any responsibility.

Thanks. I may call them but it could just be a frustrating experience.

Terrible

Do you pay extra for a signature?

They dumped my amps on their sides

Yes, signature required does cost extra money. I wish I had video surveillance so I could catch them in the act.

Sorry to hear that they dumped your amps on their sides. It sounds like the driver had no respect at all. He should lose his job.

Default Your thoughts Equipment serial numbers

I watched a delivery man roll a boxed Marantz SA-7S1 SACD/CD player out of his van and let it hit the ground... As you can no doubt imagine, my calm demeanour deserted me and the air was blue. Delivery refused, dealer immediately contacted, new Marantz sourced and delivered by another company.

Consecutive serial numbers are sometimes advantageous when selling on items. In certain circumstances it is pair matching like when I purchased microphones from Neumann they had consecutive serials.
With expensive deliveries I try to be there on arrival, delivery drivers usually take more care when you're eyeballing them.
