Sonus Faber Aida

How's the bass response? I ask because typically a bass-reflex design is usually a poor route for accurate and tight bass (albeit loud). Perhaps Bill can give us a little additional detail on how the "stealth reflex" build actually works?

I'm sure I'm also on that list with Dennis to do testing!

Many thanks for confirming this.

Personally, I think it's great when a manufacturer goes to such lengths in producing 'extras' like trolleys/jacks for speakers, customized flight cases for amps like the Classé Omega or the Dan D'Agostino Momentums, etc.

It makes me even more eager to see how all this comprehensive thinking and attention to detail translates into performance.

The big question should be now how does the Aida compare with the The Sonus Faber. I listened to the TSF twice and was really impressed - it was orders of magnitude better than any other Sonus Faber speaker. Does anyone know what is the sensitivity of the Aida?

For our Aida debut we set up in our largest 2 channel room, about 19x31x12 and marked and recorded the positions that John and Allen settled in on. After break-in (we are running them 24/7 and they already sound noticeably better than last Saturday) we will experiment with other placements and rooms. We will first try a smaller room, 17x21.6x10 as well as our largest theater which is 19+ by 40+ by 16+. If you're looking forward to dropping by Stereo Exchange to hear Aida, she will be different than she was for her debut. Unfortunately Stereo Exchange's Aida system is going to lose some of its players. The ARC REF250s and DSM450s are bound for the Aida presentation at CES. Not to worry because ARC 210s will sing in their stead. In addition the room will get reconfigured to a day to day configuration instead of the event set up we had. We had to accomodate what turned out to be a packed house of about 150. Getting the flat panel out from between the speakers will help too.

I'll be headed back up next week to reset our lady - John Hunter did the original set. Looking forward to getting out the trolley and getting to know Aida even better. Can't wait.
