Yep, the difference goes so far beyond the 3db on paper; it isn’t even remotely in the same Zip Code.
The popularity, and sales of E-800’s is unlike anything I have ever seen.

I would be interested to hear if the popularity of the E800 is based on actual auditions or something else.
I have heard the E800 in comparison to the E650 and it is a clear step up that is reflected in the higher costs. I have not had a chance to compare the E800 to an Accuphase pre/poweramp combination that would be at a similar/slightly higher price level. The issue then is also that you need an extra mains cable, interconnect, rack shelf for good isolation that adds tremendous costs. So I can also see the great advantage with the E800 that you get unprecedented enjoyment from an integrated amp allowing you to keep things simple. |

I would find it extremely difficult to spend that much money for something I have not heard. In fact, I always try out things at home before I commit. So at the moment I really cannot afford the E800 and have to stick with my E600. Still great particularly as every now and then I improve auxiliaries, which have such a tremendous impact. I regularly listen to the E800 at my dealer as he does evenings once a week where people can come with their own CDs. But I would not dare taking the E800 home and test it because I am sure I would struggle to return it.

If your expressing interest in the E800 you probably already own and appreciate Accuphase or you know someone that does. I took a leap of faith when I went all in a few years back and was overwhelmed with happiness when my audio expectations were met and then far exceeded. I have zero regrets.
