Never tried five but four U5's has always had superb results on my components and speakers.

+1 The Ultra 5s are just harder to get right under components than they are with speakers in general and for use under components additional mass loading is often the way to pull it off but when you get Ultra5s working en masse throughout the system they are quite phenomenal.

Most speakers tend to have the sufficient mass required and sufficiently large amounts of energy to usually make speakers a fair bit easier to integrate effectively with the U5s.

Either way these are completely high performance mods that can actually make or break a setup a bit akin to strapping on a supercharger on to a car. Its fair to say that other system mods may also be required especially with regards to speaker positioning as the extra bass energy, resolution and potential balance shift can make adding these a bit of an exhilarating and at times uncomfortable rocket sled like ride but ultimately can lead to an extraordinary performance boost.

I will be using 4 Ultra 5's under my new Grandioso stack. They weigh in at 217 lbs and I believe they are most worthy of Ultra 5's

I was at a mate's place when he put Ultra5s under both his K-01 and then later on his DO-2 and both were COMPLETELY worth it... but a Grandioso stack sounds like the very perfect place for Ultra5s... how cool... sounds like its going to be pretty amazing source Ivan.

Your system being the Stillpoints Laurelindórinan* of the South Pacific and all, I'm surprised we haven't heard about Ultra 6s. They are specifically meant for components and not speakers.

Tim, having something of a Galadriel moment here ATM but I'm certainly not so elven that I could ever work long enough to keep buying too many more of those magnificent bright stainless steel hockey pucks... tho I have heard more than one other poor afflicted soul refer to them as their preshus!

I'm thinking I travelled probably just far enough down the Stillpojnt road to be almost completely strangely happy and the thought of upgrading all those component U5s to U6s is a stretch some way beyond both my needs and means.

So how good Stillpoint Ultra 6s is best left on a need to know... and me very much need to not know lol

I have 3 ultra 5 under my Mcintosh C500 controller and thinking to put 4 ultra ss with the base under the pre but as I have C500 pre on the top of C500 controller, so the the ultra ss will be in between the two units
