Hi,

Go with the 452 amp (had a 452 and c2600). Perfect match with the 803d3. I had to sell mine since I am going through a divorce . Currently still have the BW 803d3. I am in socal as well. Send me a private message if you are interested.

Default Building my Dream System - need advice

Stark,
Thanks! Good luck with your journey into high end 2 channel - it's very rewarding! My setup is optimized for 2 channel - it's not acoustically absorbent like a dedicated theater would be- that's one of the trade offs.
Enjoy!
Tom

Then consider deeply how you will use the room. Mostly TV with the occasional 2 channel only music or blended or mostly music. What are your priorities?

Then set a budget that you define reasonable. Sure, the C1100 ($10,000) is a great PreAmp. It is capable of delivering the highest quality of sound along with a MC452 - that can drive almost any speaker. Is a $10,000 PreAmp that you use occasionally reasonable? Up to you.

Don’t forget cables.

Good advice here. My only comment is that you do NOT need to spend a lot of money on cables. Just make sure that you buy good quality, well built cables.

Based on your statement above (“Will spend more time watching movies”) you should consider all high-end brands that offer DIGITAL preamps. In my experience, some brands that made their name with excellent analog products are lagging in the digital realm. If you are looking at spending $10k or more for a digital preamp and will be using it primarily for movies, add Trinnov to your list of brands to look into.

Hey guys,

I'm now going back and forth between my 452's and the 1.2kws. Obviously, the 452 wiil hurt my check book less but I was wondering what folks here felt would be best for my current system. Here it is..

452
C1100
B&W 803D3s
Mc205
Mt10

Still looking to add
D1100
Mx160
N10
and possibly swap out the 452s with a pair of 1.2kws.
