I've been adjusting VTA on the Ovation and it can make quite a difference. In fact, after adjusting I realized I could go back to the 475 ohm loading on the cartridge and it sounds great now (it was a tad harsh before). I decided I might like the lifter, as I have such a variety of record weights, and it would be easier to get things dialed in. I was just curious if others have used it and what they thought.
Great to hear it will work.....

Adjusting VTA has really helped dial in this Ovation and Talisman. I went a little more tail down and bingo! I have the sound I was looking for. I'm at 56 db gain and 475 ohm loading on the Nova, right around 3 g tracking force on the Talisman. The extra bit of tail down smoothed out the shrieking I was getting with the cartridge at 475 ohm. It still has good energy and dynamics, but now it sound much smoother and more full bodied.

This has convinced me to spring for the cost (as pricey as it is) of the VTA Lifter.

I'm staying up later than I usually do because I'm enjoying what I am hearing so much.

I too own the Innovation and also the outer clamp.....the clamp really couples the LP to the platter for a quieter back ground, improves tracking and everything is just more solid from top to bottom.......a record weight also is nice to use with the outer ring, makes for a nice pairing.....as always YMMV!

Nice to have a Clearaudio site.I quite like my Clearaudio Harmony Mg with the Clearaudio Reference phono stage run in balanced mode is a good way to while away the hours.I only wish there were more spare hours to while away!

I still have the Ovation and Talisman v2 on loan. My wife and I love the sound of it. There is an outside chance we might make a deal for keeping this demo, but I'm afraid it may be too far out of our budget. I'll know more by next week sometime. In the meantime the dealer is continuing to let me use it.

Ha! Well, I pay cash for all my audio/music purchases, so the issue isn't whether I can sacrifice elsewhere. It's whether I have the cash up front to pay for it.
