hi,

i am thinking of buying a Velodyne SPL 800 Ultra for my Stereo System (McIntosh MCD 301 and MA 6600 with Audioplan Kontrast V speakers).

My room is about 25 m2

Would this be a good choice?

From what I have read and what I have heard, the SPL series sound great. Very high quality bang-for-the-buck solution.

I agree mc602. I have an SPL-R 1500 and it works pretty well with some Castle Acoustics Howard S3's. I like the remote and it blends in nicely with a 2 channel system. Granted Velodyne has better subs to offer, its plenty enough for me so far especially at its price point.

I also have the Microvee. Boy that thing is TINY but it really delivers the goods.

No interest for me; I'm a REL kind of guy. Though the JLs are awesome, too.

I am very pleased with my Velodyne DD+15. It is fast enough to keep up with my Magnepans and the room eq smooths the response curve out so placement is a nonissue. Very musical sub. My only regret is I should have bought 2 DD+10 subs versus 1 15"

I used to be a dealer, i am acutally still listed. Great name, great support, easy sell.

Only thing i ever looked for was to be able to get the DD line without the EQ. Too many rely on Audyssy or whatever the receiver has and many feel no need. Perfect example. Velodyne subs are easy to sell with Marantz receivers. If you equalize the sub first, then go to receiver, the receiver will change the settings. Marantz receivers are actually known for adjusting the sub up to -19. Need to manuallt overide. You can set the sub after the Marantz with different results.
