Before the lights go down all you see is screen and speakers. Once the lights go down all you see is screen. There's no gear to be seen anywhere in the room. I would not want my line of sight to be distracted with lighted equipment in racks on either side of my screen.
Great thought. Thanks Dan!

Ivan's theater looks amazing!!!

I have had the pleasure of experiencing Ivan's Cape Cod theater. I was so impressed I now measure bass response in "Ivans!" I am proud to say that I have achieved a 1/3 Ivan in my HT.

Any AA'ers out there have direct experience with the seaton submersive vs JL or comparable?
I have not personally listened to the submersive but the guy from my dealer that helped me there and in home who I became friends with spent a lot of time with Mark Seaton. I trust my friends ear and we have similar goals in music reproduction and he tells me that the submersives are fast like the f113 but have the tone of a 15 in a large enclosure. Every time I tell him I would like to get a second pair of f113s he recommends the submersive over the f113 and he is still a big JL fan.

Thanks for sharing that. I'd love to audition the submersives!

I would also like to have the opportunity to audition them. I think the
Submersives, and specially the HP version, have a very good price/performance ratio when
compared to other subwoofers. Twin 15-inch with 2.4KW on tap for around $2.2K is not too shabby.
(I just checked the website and there will be a price increase, but that's pretty much for everyone).

I also find the opposed firing subwoofer configuration appealing that basically
makes the enclosure inert and void of vibrations.

Then there is the other offerings, the F2, which is more like a F212, with
both 15-inch front firing subwoofers, with a little better footprint for smaller
places.

Perhaps quality, service, support are not in the same league, but it's good
that there is another solution.

Ever since I bought my NHT 2.9's, I've pretty much stopped my search for subs. They are excellent with music and do extremely well with movies as well. Granted, they don't have the ultimate slam that my old SVS PB12/2-Plus had for crashes and explosions, but the SVS was nowhere as detailed and tuneful as the 2.9's either. And in this big room they're in, the NHT's dig very deep, well into the upper teens.

The other day, I downloaded the NIN album "The Slip". My first time listening to it, it startled me. Towards the end of the third track while the music is playing normally, there's this bass that starts at the subsonic level, just shaking everything and pressurizing the room and my head, and it slowly slides up into the audible bass range, and it's potent bass at that. The first time experiencing that bass, I thought there were a couple of large moving semi trucks outside or a couple of helicopters flying up over me! I'm pretty certain that's the lowest bass I've heard these NHT 2.9's reproduce yet, and quite frankly, I'm shocked that they did that bass that low and loud.

And this is coming from a guy who's had several SVS, Earthquake, Definitive Technology, M&K, Carver Sunfire, and many massive DIY subs over the years properly located and dialed in using the right equipment, not to mention plenty of SQL systems I've designed and installed in my vehicles over the years.

Anyway, sorry if I sort of derailed the thread a little. To be a bit more on topic, positioning, level matching all speakers and subs, proper crossover point and phase, time delay, etc, etc are all extremely vital when attempting to achieve maximum quality out of your subwoofer system.

Have a pair of F2. They replaced a pair of F113. I am saving for there slaves but they are already impressing me and I imagine when I get the other pair it will be insane. Mark was working on a 24" in a cab about the size of 4 F113 staked in a quad. He said it would better the output of 3 submersive.
