F113s are boxed & shipped upside down. Boxes need to be flipped to slide them out. They come with a pair of XL size protective gloves...Does that mean the Gothams ship with XXL gloves?

Actually a smaller package than the old Dali SWA-15", but heavy construction. Hmmm, high gloss piano black...Dust already!

Placement is in the rear corners of the room at 45deg & approx 660mm from the rear wall. There are 160mm VIcoustic Wavewood corner bass traps & Wavewood & Omega panels along the rear wall. Hopefully this will work OK for the room as placement is now rather limited. They will probably be dialed in at 30-35Hz & operate in stereo mode feeding from the C1000T SPK1 XLR outs. I have already got excellent bass response in the room without subs. The F113s will just round it down further.

Sure thing Josh. Waiting for a pair of long run XLRs to arrive to push through the conduit. (Furutech FA-220, Furutech Flux XLR plugs, flexo conductive braid.)

Looking to run these out of Shunyata Cyclops too with another couple of circuits into the room.

In the meantime, I will have a play this week with some RCA that I have on hand...

Had my first little play this evening. I haven't had a chance to run both concurrently as I am waiting on my XLR runs.

Positioning sounds great with the F113s in the rear corners out around 700mm @ 45 deg. The Dali Grands have two 8 1/2" drivers & they have always been strong on low frequency. With both Fathoms running, it will be almost like having four subs in the room.

They are hooked up to the C1000T SPK1 output channels. This allows me to kill them both by remote when the pre-amp is not running in pass thru mode. (2ch listening).

Initial thoughts. Well I've certainly gained another full 10Hz to 15Hz under the hood which sounds fabulous! The F113s are very musical & do roll off gently. No audible shunts were apparent and there was none of that uncontrolled rumble of yesteryear. The mids also seem to carry better around the room too which probably has something to do with a greater room pressurization effect.

The low pass frequency is currently set to 40Hz. I may dial it down in the 30's but I do like what I hear so far. Besides, they get more of a chance to actually do some work at this level.

The phase will probably take some more experimentation but I think it's pretty close for a 1st go at it. Currently set to around 135 deg and 270 deg with the polarity at the default of 0 deg. I have enabled the low pass filter & the 12db octave slope (Butterworth alignment) seems to offer the better transition without taking too much time to compare the aggressiveness to the other setting (24db Linkwitz-Riley alignment).

The Automatic Room Optimization (A.R.O) system wanted to successfully calibrate around 2db above reference (2 o'clock dial) at the listening position. It's equalizer toned things down slightly, but not overly different to when the tone defeat is on.

Listening to Rob Wasserman - Duets is a great calibration reference for this sort of thing. I also gave Yello - Baby a spin. Both did not disappoint & have revealed a number of low frequency undertones, vibrations & subtle acoustic "puffs" that I have been missing out on.

I have left the Extreme Low Frequency trim to the default 0db setting. Seems Ok for music so far. Haven't played anything on the HT LFE side as yet...

There are 1 or 2 slight rattles in the room on occasion which I have to hunt down & eliminate.

What is the typical break-in time? Are there progressive changes that require factoring down the track?

I'm loving them today & so is The Lady.
