I know what you mean about keeping things flat but I view those settings like subwoofer settings - not tone controls. Those along with the arc software I would think would help your room. I didn't quite understand - how far are you from the speakers - how far did you settle on from the front wall (panel distance - not woofer distance ) .. and how far is your seat from the back wall. Just some thoughts there in case someone wants to chime in more on placement or seating arrangement.

Tim try the 1/3 rule, speakers 1/3 into the room from the front wall and your listening position at 2/3 and see how they sound.

Hey Timm, chairs about 12 feet from the front of the panels. The panels are about 3.4 feet from the wall. Chairs are about 7 feet from the back wall. Which also has a back window. |

Update:
I now have over 100 hours on these. I can tell the difference...I truly love the soundstage these present and maybe for the first time in my life I am finding myself actually listening to the MUSIC instead of listening to a demo. Getting lost in the music. Can't truly remember that ever happening before. I hear things like background instruments and even soft background voices that were hidden before. I played some music for my girlfriend saturday night and she even said, "well I thought it was BS when you said needs to break in"...Sounded insanely good. She heard them the first day. And this is a room where there is no acoustic treatment yet. And a cheap USB I am going to upgrade the 'little' things in the next few months. Power cords/ USB etc... Bass at the listening position is weaker than I want but I also know the ARC software might help a bit. These are also cool looking |

Hello Timobi,
Congrats on your ML13a speakers. Your system looks gorgeous. On almost all my speakers, I got huge improvement in the bass response by replacing the spikes with bearing footers. I use the Pro Audio Bono ones. Maybe you could try them or StillPoints. These bearings make the bass much cleaner and unboomy. That will surely not solve all your problems but that is a good start to get a bass as clean as possible. ESL speakers, full range or hybrid are always pretty touchy to set up. Patience is highly needed. Courage !
