In the spirit of another post by Ivan, I'll start a new thread.

I realize there are three points of concern to me on my system and they are listed in no particular order:

1. More accurate and defined bass is desired. I'm not using any kind of sub at this time. The REL I have does not seem to blend well the ML Spire.

2. Power Cords. Stock cords are being used on all components in conjunction with the Pole Pig and S600.

3. Vibration Control. My rack is set up between the speakers. I had once moved it out to a side wall which made a HUGE improvement but usage of the living room went to hell in a hand basket. It made me think that vibration was having a large impact on the sound to a point.

Considering the three elements mentioned above, where would you concentrate your efforts first?

Here are a few things that helped me when I had Logans........try to get the EQ lower as it really messes with the panels if too high, if you have a single tier rack try a double wide one as you want the EQ as low as possible. Another thing to try is have some one take a mirror to the wall behind your speakers and while your sitting in your listening position have the other person slide the mirror on the wall until you see the inside corners of the speakers then place try an acoustical panel in that location against the wall and the same for the other speaker.

I decided to take the plunge into upgrading the Power Cords. A pair of Silver Electra's are on the way today for my amps. I thought I'd start there and if the improvement is noticeable, I'll gradually replace the other 5 I'm going to need.

Gordon.......I took that same leap of faith with the Wireworld Silver Electra power cords. I was still in my full tilt skeptic mode, and didn't believe I would hear any difference. I couldn't have been more wrong. The lower octaves immediately gained more definition. There was a new thickness and texture to the bottom end that was very pleasant. Bass tones were defined more accurately. The bottom end was more solid, tighter.

Of course, I had to go back to the stock cords to make sure I wasn't just hearing what I wanted to hear, and sure enough the improved definition and detail in the lower octaves disappeared. That's not to say my bass had been bad, just that it improved with the Silver Electra cables. It improved a lot.

Have fun. This is a good place to begin with your quest for sonic improvements.

To address point #1, I notice you are already using Real Traps. What kind and how many do you have? If you have room to add more or can change out Mini Traps for Mondo Traps that would also make a positive difference.

In terms of subs if you can try out one or two JL Audio F112s I believe they would blend very well with your MLs. They are a fast sub and I have heard them with ML and Wilson speakers among others and they had no issue keeping up

Let us know what you think of the PC upgrade as well...

Wow JJ, I just posted my trap count in another thread but here it is:

I have two RealTraps HF absorbers mounted 4 inches off the wall directly behind the speakers. There are also two TriTraps on the front floor corner intersection. I'd like to put two more tri's in the front ceiling corner but the better half is somewhat baulking at that. Two MicroTraps are on the walls at the first reflection point. I could use a couple on the ceiling.

I'd like to install a couple Mondo's in the front but I'm out of room for them May have to investigate a DIY trap another guy I know did when he was tight on space.

You must have talked to Ivan. He also recommended a pair of 112's when we spoke yesterday. You guys in cahoots?

I'm leary of the PC thing but as I've said before, I'm willing to try. My wallet is fearing the 2 10 footers I'm going to need to power the speakers!

Well you went with power cords first - definately not a bad idea.

But if you want some boom - get a sub (or 2). ML's are great speakers but I have yet to hear one that gives me the desired bass output that I am satisfied with.

Now for some RollerBlocks, and you are set with your 3-part improvement quest...

I have to agree with the bottom on the ML. I love the mids and highs but need some help down low.

Haven't heard of RollerBlocks but I'll look into them.
