Oppo finally released the price of the new HA-1 Pre-Amp/Headphone Amp/Asynchronous DSD Dac/et all at a pretty reasonable $1199

Rudy.......I like the look of the silver Oppo HA-1 better than the black. The multi-function LCD display looks interesting. It will be interesting to see if Oppo can stake out territory in the high-end audio market like they have in the home theater arena.

Presenting a simple, clean and purposeful appearance, the Oppo HA-1 certainly has all the right connectivity and features.
From balanced analog inputs and outputs in XLR, AES/EBU, coax, optical and USB digital inputs plus the additional flexibility of the RCA and balanced pre-outs make for a very versatile component. The feature rich back panel also includes a 12v trigger in and pass through, a nice feature for saving power when you shut down your system or need to daisy chain other components into the power stream that are part of your musical enjoyment. The HA-1 employs the ESS 9018 Sabre 32 chipset, ESS's latest offering in a long line of successful products. The headphone amp and analog sides appear to be well specified and it must be noted that while it supports PCM up to 32/384, it also supports DSD at 256 times the CD rate. Now that's impressive. It appears that Oppo is launching a serious foray into consumer audio with the HA-1 and the future may see the HA-1 spawn a well respected line of audio equipment by a premier maker who has proven their worth in the video arena.

I can also see the HA-1 with a Modwright update and some tubes looking very tempting....

I think Oppo HA1 could be more versatile if there is a possibility for the user to choose the output sensitivity, for example by attenuation like Benchmark dac
