Hi Patrick,

Thanks again for answering. Just to precise, I found at a hardware store two slices of foam (aimed at seating comfort), 1.2" thick, which I cut and inserted at the bottom of the speakers. This does perfectly fit my need. It it obviously not as aesthetic as a manufacturer's designed solution would be but it does it's job.

In terms of acoustics, it does not ruin anything. It just reduces the peak at 30Hz from an actual +16db down to +10db. So it's quite efficient and does not alter the rest of the spectrum apart from bass.

After correction by the electronic correction processor I have (Trinnov), the curve is close to perfect.

So my question, which arose from a mistranslated user manual, was just to know whether there was an original B&W solution to this or not. I guess you kindly answered the question. Thanks.

I own a pair of 802D3. I have an excessive bass response in my room (+15db at 30Hz), which makes it quite inaudible. Solution would be to plug the bass conduit (doing so with textile improves significantly the situation).

Does anybody know whether B&W has a mousse for that (they refer to it in the owner's manual but I could not find it in the packaging I received).

Thanks in advance.
Hi Patrick,

15 db is huge.. I have the same speakers in my living room, just 9 weeks old.
The bass is working perfect, and my room has only 33 m˛.
Music sounds realistic, and with Blurays the 802 D3 make a fantastic job by playing the LFE channals, no need for subs.
So my question is: Are You sure that the amps are working correct?
Could absorbers be a solution to You? I reached so much with small
effort in my room.

Greetings Uli.

Hi Uli,
Yes the amps are working well. Thank you for the suggestion.
I will definitely have a look in the direction of passive acoustics treatment.

New user here and would like to get some advise for centre channel to pair with the 804d3 in a small HT (15'x14'). Ideally would want a htm4d3 but my dealer said there won't be one. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Hi kkcc,

The match for 804D3 would be the HTM2D3.

Finally. The much anticipated Stereophile review of the 802D3 will be in the June issue, released this week.

The perspective of the cover picture of the speaker makes me reconsider my original statement and say that the styling has moved from the Elizabethan to the well beyond the Edwardian:

Not sure if that profile pic of the 802D3 is the most flattering....

I made no value judgement with my analogy.

No other way to say it...that is simply a horrible cover photo. I happen to really like the proportions and overall look of the D3s and that photo does them no justice at all. Not sure what "effect" they were after, but it's a giant FAIL. Any of the stock photos from B&W's marketing material would have been better.
