Default US vs. Brazil - Soccer final in Confed Cup

Even if you don't follow soccer, this (i.e. being in the final against Brazil in the Confederation Cup) is a VERY big deal for the US.

Last week they beat Spain 2-0, another shocker.

11AM/2PM (PST/EST) today on ESPN (I believe).

I am fully Americanized in that I now enjoy football (i.e. American football) as much as soccer (perhaps even a bit more) but big tournaments are always fun to watch.

If you have nothing else to do, it might want to check it out - perhaps while being on AA .

If the U.S. pulls off its second huge stunner within five days, it would send shock waves throughout the world. "If beating Spain in the semifinals was a statement, then this would be incredible," Howard said. "It probably will be one of the most unexpected wins in the history of sports."

Great effort. It would have been a miracle if they beat Brazil.

I would have loved a win, but this is a great result. It will make the World Cup next year more interesting for the US.

Congratulations to the team. No shame in being beaten by Brazil - especially 3-2.

I was hoping they would hold on to win as well but deep down inside I knew it would be a tough one to pull off given the experience and skills of Brazil and they would come out with their guns blazing in the second half. You're right, no shame in it at all, it was a great effort. Now that team USA knows that it is possible for them to compete on that level, it will be very interesting next time.
