My dealer will take trade-ins for new gear with restrictions. It has to be current from a line they sell and be traded in for a similar product. For example, you can't trade in a speaker to buy an amp. In fact, I wanted to trade in a pair of speakers and a sub for a better pair of speakers, but they don't want to take the sub for that, even though I bought it from them and it is a current model. Now if I want to trade in that sub for a new sub that's a different matter.

Those are some heavy restrictions to deal with but at least you have some opportunity to trade.

I am very fortunate that my dealer will and has worked with me. I did sell many items directly on A-gon before they switched over, now seems to be a no go for me.

What are the alternatives? Besides here, which is an excellent alternative, sometimes.

Honestly, I have posted several things here, and not a single nibble on any of them. Unless you have McIntosh or other select brands to sell and trade here, Audiogon -- for all its faults -- is still the best game in town. I'm hesitant to use eBay. Otherwise, I have used Craigslist and the local area forum on Audio Circles.

Videogon looks pretty good. I wish more people were aware of it. It looks just like the old Audiogon.

That I have not figured that out yet. Communicating with a potential purchaser is currently too difficult. When you are considering a high value item, I found that is was best to speak to them directly. A-Gon thinks everyone is out to scam them out of that $1-$100 fee. How sad.

You are probably correct, but they could have fixed that by raising listing fees, and eliminating the selling fees.
