Thanks everyone!

So now I'm wondering if I'd be better off connecting my Oppo 95 to my receiver via the multi-channel analog outputs even though my receiver has HDMI and can handle DSD.
From what I understand, part of the added cost of the 95 is due to the superior analog output circuits. As long as they pass DSD, it stands to reason to use the analog outs. If I do that, I assume I should turn of the HDMI digital outputs in the set-up menu, correct?

I have mine connected both ways, but prefer the audio via HDMI.

Toccata.......I run my Oppo BDP-95 analog 5.1 to my MX120, and turn HDMI sound off. The ESS 32Bit Sabre Reference DACs in the Oppo BDP-95 sound fantastic. No reason to loose that level of performance by letting the processor's DAC's bypass the ESS DAC's in the Oppo, in my opinion.

I agree with Dan. The only potential downside (I think) is that you would loss the ability to adjust audio/video synch in your receiver/processor.

You may just want to try it both ways and see what works best for you... but I have to imagine the 95's analog outs will make mincemeat out of most any A/V receiver's D/A conversion and post conversion buffering.

Insistence on the pure DSD route for multichannel is a bias based on archaic analog practices. Why bother with the MX150 if you are going to do this?

You can let the Oppo convert it to PCM and send it by HDMI to the MX150. That permits the use of essential modern bass/channel management and room EQ.

So for SACD .....would the Oppo be as good as the MCD 201 or 301 or 500?
