I have also bought a Venom Defender. Would you recommend plugging a Venom defender in each of the 20A wall outlet socket along with the Denali and PS8, or connect the Defender in one of the sockets of the Denali and PS8?

Also, the bottom 2 sockets of the Denali are HC. Can I connect source components to these, or they only designed for Amps?

To recap on cable needs:
* PS8 to 20A wall outlet: Alpha NR (best) or Delta NR
* Denali to 20A wall outlet: Alpha EF (best), or Delta EF (as the Denali has great NR capabilities, I think I would only need EF cables. Is this correct or should I use NR cables to connect the Denali to the Wall outlet?)
* Amps and Sub to PS8: Alpha NR (best) or Delta NR (if I connect the PS8 to the wall outlet using Alpha NR)
* Sources (Pre-Amp, CD Player, Streamer, PS Audio DAC) to Denali: Alpha EF (best) or Delta EF

Thanks again.

Thanh
Hi Caelin,

After I read and learn a bit more about the different Shunyata power distributors, I thought perhaps a simpler solution to my problems of not having enough sockets/outlets for my gears with only the Denali, is to consider the Triton v3 with its 8 sockets which I believe would serve me well for next several years with the gears I have or plan to add. From what I read, I believe the Triton v3 would have higher overall performance (NR, CCI, Transient/dynamics etc..) than the combo Denali + PS8, and the additional cost vs. the Denali + PS8 may be “reasonable”

If I opt for the Triton v3, what would you recommend to connect it to the wall (Alpha vs. Sigma, NR vs. EF)?

For Amps and Sub, it would be NR cables (either Alpha or Delta) to the Triton, and for Sources, it would be EF (Alpha or Delta). Or would you recommend to all NR cables for all gears?

Please let me know your thoughts, and recommendations. Much appreciated.

Thanks.

Thanh

Yes, the Triton v3 is our reference power conditioner. Yes, it is clearly superior in performance to the Denali but at a price. Perhaps Ivan will help you with this.

When you invest in a product of the Triton's capability, you will want a reference power cable to ensure that you get the full performance potential. That means a Sigma EF or at minimum an Alpha EF. But just an FYI; if you compare the Alpha versus the Sigma you will choose the Sigma. Remember that ALL the current to ALL your components flows through this single cable.

This is a good plan.

I don't if you have considered this as an alternative? You could use a DENALI 6000 for your source gear and then use a DENALI 2000/T for your amplifiers assuming you only have two amps?

If you have a second dedicated line, as you indicated, you can also connect your amplifiers or subs directly to the wall outlet. In this case you would use an NR version cable so that you have noise reduction capability. This is a nice solution since you don't need a second power conditioner and the associated second cable required for it. Many people go this route and are very happy with the results.

Thank you Caelin! This is very helpful.

I also bought the Venom Defender. Do I plug it in the one of the wall sockets where the Triton is plugged in, or should I plug the defender in one of the sockets of the Triton?

Thanks again for taking the time to answer my questions.

The Triton needs no additional filtering nor does it need transient protection since it is built in. The Venom Defender does nothing for a Triton.

Use the Defender elsewhere, perhaps in a second system, for the television or for your computer. It was designed to provide noise reduction and transient protection for the Venom PS8 or for single component audio systems, like a wireless speaker.

Denali 6000T has been awarded 2018 Power product of the year from HiFi+ in the Uk. Congrats to Shunyata Research team! I am glad I ordered one from Ivan. Can't wait to connect it to my sources. Here is the link:

Absolutely - wrong

The Denali uses a massive “electromagnetic breaker”.
It’s contacts and terminals are rated to deliver a continuous 30A of current.
The trip point is set for each region’s standard, in the UK that is 16A

Most power conditioners use one or more fuses, as you said, or thermal breakers. Both of these operate on the principle of progressive thermal heating. In other words as more current is drawn the temperature of the fuse or breaker element goes up until it finally trips. This heating creates thermal noise and is audible.

Electromagnetic breakers operate based upon an element that senses current without heating up. It can operate right at its maximum rating without heating up.

Working on distribution systems up to 6000A and 24kV I had a little chuckle with the word "massive" to describe a 30A breaker...

However proud to be a Denali owner

It’s all relative isn’t it.

Hi Caelin and Grant,

I ordered a Denali 6000T with Alpha NR power cable to connect to 20A wall outlet. My understanding is that Alpha EF would be equally good as the Denali has already built-in NR capabilities.

My question is: Is there a significant benefit to go to Sigma EF instead of Alpha EF as main power cable to connect the Denali to the wall outlet, or is this "overkill" and the Sigma EF would be better suited for the Triton?

Also, Caelin, I believe you mentioned in an earlier response that there may be new products announcement in January 2019 (?). Could you give some hints as to what they may be?

Thanks
