Gotcha! Thanks for the insight!

Right now I think the Focal SM9's are awesome and I haven't even heard them yet!!

Right now, I believe that if I hook them up to my MCD500 Its all I need. Then I can have my two channel listening and my Home Theater

I look forward to your impressions. I am a focal fan myself - run maestros.

I don't know if I will find any retailer who's got 'em I might just catch word of mouth praise, but not enough to risk the money on.

I did mention a caveat earlier but might be worth repeating.

The input impedance on the Focal studio monitors are very low. About 10kOhms or something.

On my Ayon CD5S which features no negative feedback, it does create weird distortions in balanced mode and less so in Single Ended.

Not an issue when I use a solid state Bel Canto Pre3 or DAC3.5VB II though.

In the past, there was also a flagship SM11 with its own DAC!! So you had to use something like a Weiss INT202 to supply dual mono SPDIFs to the speakers!!

Whoa! I remember seeing the SM11's

noted: the electrical issues

I would like to see a face off of the SM9 vs the Diablo Utopias

I still think the SM9's would be a fantastic pair next to my iMac.

My brother has a pair of the SM9's in his recording studio and they are a fantastic monitor. I really don't have any issues with their sound from any perspective.
