I own a Mk VI and have heard Mk IVs. Although aual memory is fleeting my impression is that my Mk VI is indeed has a tighter, faster more impactful bass--not sure about deeper. Probably one reason some people feel the Mk VI sounds too 'solid state'.
I can see how feel that way if auditioning a factory new stock amp at a dealer. But a fairly simple change to good NOS tubes and perhaps a coupling cap upgrade and I find you can get the best of both worlds out of the VI. |

Matti,
McIntosh changed the power supply voltage between the MC 275V (450V) and MC 275VI (490V). I do not know what impact that may have had on the sound, so I would definitely audition the MC 275VI before you buy it. Another big change between the two amps is the VI has sentry monitor which is a very practical addition. I love my MC 275V - it is a keeper. I have not heard the MC 275 VI. Tom
