I look forward to a comparison with the 3K’s once everything is properly set up.

Just bring a shoehorn back with you. You know you need to fit the 1K in. It would be incomplete otherwise.
I know, just not looking forward to carrying these 300lb each monsters upstairs. I find these to be incredibly well balanced.

Exactly my thoughts on the 9Ks. They seem to balance out a better at higher listening levels. At the lower levels I do 95% of my listening at the bass is too much and has to cut back to allow the upper mids & highs their chance. I've been listening in the near-field and am going to move the 9Ks back to see if it helps with the treble/bass balance. Am also thinking of stuffing some foam in the ports.

I have the ultimate near-field set up, which doesn’t help create a balanced sound: I’m using them as my computer speakers, with the wall too close. I listen at “low” volume mostly and occasionally turn the volume up and sit back 8 feet or so to listen for a while. Overall though, I am very happy with them. I was not expecting such a wide and deep soundstage. And while there is a lot of bass, it is certainly not bloated. As Ivan has said, they are a tremendous value. I can only imagine what 5Ks sound like when properly dialed in.

When I return soon, I will be installing all new WW Series 8 Cable and fine tune the K5’s placement.

I have not done any direct comparisons against the K3’s yet. In fact, I need to evaluate if this room can handle another pair of speakers; the K1’s.
The review I'm anxiously awaiting.

Not sure of the 'why', but the 9K's bass emphasis was tamed by adding more power. Jumped up from 18wpc to 42wpc and they've settled down and evened out. Won't pretend to understand why, but they are a real pleasure to listen to with the additional power. Perhaps there is better dampening or whatever with the additional power.
