Arrival of BDP-3
The BDP-3 arrived on Thursday and finally had a chance to get it set up Saturday evening. Discovering that mounting the SSD required a Torx driver smaller than my smallest, it's on hold until the proper size arrives tomorrow. Here are a few pictures for those interested:
1. Back panel, the antennas for the WiFi screw in, one shown mounted, the other un-mounted to the left side. They bend, twist and rotate. An inexpensive RCA to BNC adapter will allow use of an RCA Coax cable for the time being. 2. A Torx 10 is required to remove case screws for internal access. 3. Interior view. The SSD will mount in the front center on the included screws. Also a Torx screw, they look to be a number 6.

Have you tried the Wi-Fi yet? does it give you a full resolution signal?

Moonhawk-
Yes the built in WiFi controls the library and functions of the unit such as firmware/software updates. I got it up and running last night; tied it into the network and updated the firmware. All pretty easy but took a little time as the interface was unfamiliar to me. It can be controlled from a laptop, desktop and tablet. I did a listen using an external HD plugged into the USB. Out of the box, the sound is cleaner, instruments better placed and vocals clearer. Now to move to files over to the built-in SSD. Not quite sure on that one yet.

OK, thanks--So, to be clear, you wouldn't use it to stream Tidal or Roon, or some such?

Not sure if the Gismo would work on the older BDP-1 - email Chris and ask him. crice@bryston.com |
