Default Bach, J S: Brandenburg Concertos

Today...

Bach, J S: Brandenburg Concertos Nos. 1-6 BWV1046-1051 (complete)
Dunedin Consort, John Butt

Beautifully performed and captured by a densely textured, vivid recording. What else can you ask for?

C.P.E. Bach - Hugo Distler - J.S. Bach
Anne Galowich, Jos Van Immerseel, harpsichord
Anima Eterna

Not one, no TWO harpsichords!
And mind you, this was a recommendation by Julian, a notorious addict of the instrument.

This UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador performs these lovely pieces in his usual playful way.

Went to see my local Symphony orchestra in a church concert last weekend. Obscure works by Shosty, and Holst, and a more standard work by Prokofiev. There was a charming saxophone concerto in three parts with three different sax's. A young girl played them brilliantly, and I met the lady composer several times during the evening, and the mayor paid her obeisance also. A frail middle aged lady, she might bring it out on CD as she had done her other works. I took the wrong turn a few times in the poring rain on my bike to get there, so wasn't in the best frame of mind, but it was a fun evening.

Any of you who have not heard the latest Minnesota release of Mahler 5 under Vanska,....I would suggest grabbing a copy;

https://www.amazon.com/Mahler-Sympho...words=Mahler+5

Also,...if you've not listened to this sample of Mahler 8 with Utah Symph. at the Mormon Tabernacle with the Choir, I would suggest listening ASAP and securing a pre-order on Amazon;

https://referencerecordings.com/mahl...for-pre-order/

Sounds wonderful and very promising!
