I spent about 30 min with this transport and dac, nice stable presentation. I loved it. Very nice with transistor gear, used Simaudio. Didn't spend anytime with it playing loud but i am sure the smooth presentation would still be faithful. It really is a latest generation for digital playback in noise reduction. 6k for both, expensive but very nice.

The transport addresses a major drawback that previously existed with HD playback as the source. Its the power supply circuitry that most computers lack in terms of audio. The power supply on this transport is like . I have no idea how its laid out, i can only tell you that it sounds really good.

If you want a try a cheaper transport that mimicks this try a Pioneer 560H dvd recorder. It gives you a 60 gb hd and not bad interface( but not great). Its driven from a HD via coax and sounds pretty good. The power supply gives a good voltage drive but you can hear all the crap in the form of a slight tinge of hash to it. But still much better than most optical drives imo.

With this you get all the benefits of an HD drive but with an audiophile power supply. It has great response in all categories of soundstage imo from what i heard.

I do not remember anyone here on AA but Jerry adding the PWT or PWD to their systems. Did I miss someone?

I am a little surprised since the apodizing and minimum phase filters appear to be the rage and the PWD offers both.

Per PS Audio the 5 filters available on the PWD are:
1. Linear phase 'soft knee filter'
2. Minimum phase 'soft knee filter'
3. Linear phase Brickwall filter
4. Minimum phase apodizing filter
5. linear phase apodizing filter
