It's a power distributor made by Shunyata Research....dramatically lowers noise from AC current, and improves detail as a result. Also improves the systems ability to swing current.

I'm going to take that it is something really different than say the Richard Gray power conditioners I run.

Yes. Personally, I'm much more a fan of Shunyata than RGPC.

Love the pix of cj gear. They look great together! Neat setup all the way around. My dealer swears by the EAR equipment.

Thanks, Darrin. I deliberately did not stack the preamp on top of the amp; I wanted to keep the preamp away from the amp's transformers as much as possible given that both have to live in the same rack...my place is too small to have the amp out on it's own on the floor.

What you can't see are the two turntables on the top shelf.

The EAR equipment is great; I'm a big fan. Tim de Paravicini ranks up there with the other great audio designers.

I'm a big fan of their products, and I kinda know the guys there..I did some "quasi-consulting" for them at the end of 2010, and they gave me a little bit of a price break on some power cords and the Hydra 4 as a "thank-you".

Over the last year and a half I've been doing experiments with power cords and power distributors, I've become convinced that they exert a larger influence on a system than speaker cables or interconnects. While those are important, being able to dramatically lower the noise floor, and reduce the RF and EMI flux that is omnipresent and in large quantities in, around and behind our audio racks really pays big dividends in being able to really be able to hear fully into our musical presentations. That, and the ability to dynamically swing large transient amounts of current and not hold the "saturation" of that current swing also are really important. The more you get the noise level of your system down, not only can you hear more INTO the music, but the listening experience takes on an ease of listening that just was not there previously. You don't notice this improvement in the "ease of listening" until the source of the "unease of listening" goes away.
