Last night I watched the Kennedy Center Awards where Dave Brubeck was honored along with Robert DeNiro, Mel Brooks, Grace Bumbry and Bruce Springsteen. A great tribute to a fine man.

I watched it too Jim. It was altogether a great program. I thought each and every tribute was wonderful. Some great performances honoring Dave Brubeck, Grace Bumbry, and Bruce Springsteen. It was also nice to see Pres Obama groove to the music (caught him a bunch of times with his eyes closed grooving to the music). And what a rousing finale with Sting honoring the Boss

That's why I started this thread. I went to my music collection and just saw Time Out as the sole album I owned for Dave Brubeck. And that's how we got to this point

Time Out was the first Jazz album I ever bought. Not sure whatever happened to it.

As you state all of the tributes were really good. In the Springsteen tribute I thought Eddie Vedder's "My City of Ruins" , Melissa Etheridge's "Born to Run", Jennifer Nettles and Ben Harper " I'm On Fire" and Sting backed my the huge choir doing "The Rising" which brought the whole house to its feet were very good. John Mellencamp's "Born In The USA" didn't cut it. Jennifer Nettles has one of the best voices in contemporary music. She can do Country, Rock, and R&B pull it off really well.

The DeNiro tribute was touching and funny.

Cyril,

I'm glad you started the Dave Brubeck thread. Like you, I was looking through this massive collection and had only a handful of disc's.

That's about to change....real soon

They did mention during the Tribute the other night that Take Five is the biggest selling Jazz album of all time.

Hey Jim,

When recommending jazz to someone Take Five and Kind Of Blue are the first ones.

They never disappoint

Happy New Year!

Any thoughts as to which cd label is the best sounding for Miles KOB?
