Tom Petty "The Live Anthology" 7 LP BOx set Deadwax comments
First, I know there is a thread regarding this box set, but let me make a comment about this set & then I'll get on with the heart of the thread.
This box set is by far the best constructed & organized box set that I own. Mastered by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering from 24 bit/96K files, limited to 2500 copies & pressed at Pallas Mfg in Germany (not analogue cut from analogue tapes but a darn good job on the vinyl). All 14 sides are gorgeous, high sheen, error/defect free (but most LP's have paper sleeve/construction remanant particles that clean up with a Hunt brush ((or similiar)). Only once, as the tonearm was already into the deadarea did I hear a pop -- other than that -- crystal clear, perfect. Now, since I'm always looking into the deadwax area -- just for curosity. Others have "hand scribed" comments in LP's -- the Eagles for instance; however, comments on their records vary -- each comment is quite different or similiar, but not identical. Another being Led Zeppelin, engraving with the phrases "Do What Thou Wilt" and "So Mote Be It" on sides 1 and 2 of original Led Zeppelin 3 pressings. To my amazement and surprise I noted the following written in the deadwax of each LP side: Side 1: That's Scott, Not Ben Side 2: You Kids Sit Down Side 3: Drums Wibes Sparks (**can't make out the 2d word in 100% certainty). Side 4: Kill My Amps! Side 5: Steal The Equipment Side 6: Why So Loud? Side 7: Stage 3 Ignition Side 8: Out of the Dressing Room Side 9: Don't Touch The Microphone Side 10: Bigger In Person Side 11: You're Scaring My Ears Side 12: No Sound Check Today Side 13: Freedom In Open Side 14: Circle The Buses Ole' Chris Bellman was having fun mastering this set. Great job too.

Bob,
Interesting finds. I didn't know this. Will look at my Led Zep and the Tom box which by the way is awesome. Highly Recommended!! Dave

You guys are pushing me to the edge. $150 live box set is awful high, but the quality seems to justify the price.

A jem & I'm really impressed with it (sonics, quality - even though it's a digital transfer).

Yes i do want it on vinyl. Already have the CDs (4 disc version) $99 is the price point I wish this set could of come to market at. Best buy is now charging $159 on their website. $20 for 4 Cds is a killer deal on the other hand! yet I want 24/96 mastering!! Jason

Jason,
The cd set is good but the vinyl is better plus you get all the extra goodies and cool packaging. It's well worth it. Dave
