i read the polish review of the 900/901 and didn't think it was a lukewarm review. quite the contrary. maybe something was lost in the transaltion? plus ,we all know what reviews are for......... for the most part.
having had the dp-75 years ago, i can attest that accuphase reowrked their sound , and came out with a winner with the 900/901. as mentioned to toga, it may not be your or your friend's cup of tea ,but it should be a consideration in the top 3 digital set ups. just my $0.02.
The review was not exactly negative (they never are) but it was in a strong contrast to the very enthusiastic review of the MSB combo a month earlier.

Thanks Ozy,
I'm sure they're my cup of tea as I tried them for a week, they just took them back ,
Soulution 540 is still here, returning to 540 after living with 900/901 for a week, 540 seem harsh, but play a few discs and my ears adjusted and quite enjoy its great bass and dynamic sound once again. I think I may also like sound of Eso 02 as well especially if they cost a lot less. In Japan Eso cost a lot more, but in my country it seems like I can get bigger discount of Eso than I can get from accuphase.
Toga.
Now time to study hard once again, after finish all the test I should have enough $$$ for
new disc player.

Thanks a lot ozy and everybody. this topic is completed and the conclusion is that
Accuphase 900.901 are one great disc player at the moment. the most musical digital
player I've heard.

Pity that no matter how much I like the fantastic sound of these Accuphase, I decided to
order Burmester 111 instead without even try it. Burmester concept is nice and should make life easier too. I do hope it will make similarly wonderful sound to Accuphase.
If B111 doesn't approach musicality of 900/901, I will use it as music server only and will start new saving $$$ for Accuphase once more time.

Toga,

Congratulation! I am excited for you. How long until it arrives? Please let us know how it sounds. The 111 is on my list as well.

Joe, thanks, I really don't have much knowledge about computer and hi-res files.
I must read more about computer music. But Frankly, deep inside I feel sorry that I don't buy Accuphase 900/901. I never have Burmester sound experience before,
but Accuphase 900/901 did touch my heart when hearing they play music.
As I said if B111 fail to make me smile I will buy 900/901 anyway.
And by the way I expect 2 months waiting for B111.

I still think cdp have servers beat. My sooloos doesn't sound as good as as the Meridian 808.3 even though they use the same Dac but it has it beat for convenience!

Ok, reading back thru my own post a few months ago and now it is true.
Burmester 111 sound very beautiful when read directly from CD, but the drive has poor
Reading capability. Music once ripped, it sound like mp3, despite being FLAC.
It does have very interesting ipad menu, but the sound from ripped cd is doubtful.
Also free hi res included in machine like 24/192 doesn t sound convincing at all.
I tried Burmester 089, Vitus s new RCD 100. And finally i bring Accuphase back again to compare.

And my final word is that I will have to buy Accuphase dp900/901. Despite have just received my
Burmester 111. To be fair, both Burmester 111 and 089 may be require power conditioner 948
To sound best, which i don t have. I use RSA maxim.

Accuphase is by far the best digital source I ve heard in my system, yes .

Here are list what what i have extended loan or owned sources. Unsorted.
1. Arc cd7 , owned
2. Esoteric p03/d03, owned
3. Moon Andromeda
4. Moon 750d
5. Dcs puccini and u clock
6. Soulution 540
7. metronome kalista + dac
8. Burmester 111 and 089
9. Vitus s RCD 100
10. Cambridge audio 840c , owned

Accuphase rocks.
