Burmester aren't so big on providing a lot of details on their products, LOL!

Still, their PDF suggests it can do everything. Reference level preamp, tricky power supply including UPS, 2TB of SSD built in, ripping facility, streaming facility, comprehensive control via the dedicated iPad. And hearsay suggests this contains a newly designed DAC section that is a real step up from their current DACs.

The areas that I would want to focus on is the interface; how seamless and responsive it is, ability to set up playlists, etc. Whether they have expanded the list of compatible files. Most of my library is AIFF. Easy enough to change, but often metadata can get scrambled in the process.

Then how to expand storage. They have been very conservative in using a RAID 1 setup, and it seems to me very extravagant to use 1TB of SSD as a mirror. SSD seems more robust than mechanical drives, and I would prefer that they used RAID 0, and have the ability to attach an external drive for backups. It is not clear what external storage can be attached, although they noted that the internal SSD drives will be upgradeable.

I understand they have produced 30 units which are out in the field as a final test and to identify any software glitches. Burmester seem to be going all out on this product, and it should be exceptional.

Sure I will. I have lived with the Aurender S10 for over a month (its great, BTW), so I think I have a good benchmark to compare other contenders - at least features and GUI wise.

I am told the 111 is Burmester's biggest debut ever. Normally units are produced in lots of 10.

The initial production run of 111's is 50, that makes it a Company record. They are now ramping up to make it 75 so they can fill all back-orders.

I was informed, I can expect a 111 to demo in late June/July.
