Default Sigma vs opus power cords

I have a transparent audio opus power cord on loan and I have to say, it is quite good. I'm really impressed! I have it on my power amp straight into the wall. Improved definition, punch... It's awesome. Very expensive, though.

Has anyone compared shunyata sigma pc's to the opus? I am currently using all shunyata alpha for pc's. I'd like to stick with the brand if it is comparable to the opus.

Can't answer your question but very intrigued. I too own Alpha PCs (HC version) which I'm quite pleased with but have wondered about Sigma. Hope someone can shed some light on Sigma vs Opus.

Yes, I'm also using alpha HC.

Cannot comment about Opus but Sigma beats Alpha easily

I can imagine what the new Sigma brings to the table

I definitely believe in the benefits power cords can have on our systems. That said, as with every component I consider for purchase there is a very arbitrary line where cost versus benefit must be factored. Every who participates in the hobby of ours get to choose that line for him self. "Currently" I am not willing to try the Opus or Sigma PC lines for that reason.

Around the time I was adding the Denali unit to my system I also A/B'd Alpha products against my Transparent MM2x. It was a very difficult choice to make and here is what I ended up doing. Replaced the Transparent cable from my Meridian to the wall with a Alpha Digital. Used a Alpha HC from the Denali to the wall. Kept the MM2x connecting my Momentum's amps to the Denali and since I did not want to ask for a 20 foot demo Alpha cable didn't demo a Shunyata for the application.

The Alpha versus MM2x going from amps to Denali was a very close call and may have ended up differently for other individuals. The Shunyata's may have been a bit more immediate where the Transparent cables allowed a bit more detail.

I normally suggest that we don't mix cables and interconnects from different manufacturers but this is currently working for me. It was suggested by Shunyata that I try the Sigma's in my set-up but those were around that "line in the sand" and I would have told myself to audition the Opus line. It would never stop.

With Transparent's Gen 5 products and Shunyata's latest offerings I may end of revisiting my choices in the near future.

Yes, these companies are definitely pushing the envelope with what is possible. I'm more and more impressed with the products I try these days. It's a good (albeit expensive) time to be an audiophile.

I found a way to try sigma cables, but I'm going to hold off for a bit...I just spent a fortune and I'm pretty sure when I hear sigma I'll want it.

In the meantime, if anyone has experience with both, please share. For now, I can say with confidence that the opus power cord is really, really good.

Well I broke down and brought home 3 Opus PC's and a Opus Powerisolater to audition.

I will start by inserting the Opus Powerisolater in lieu of my Denali and connecting the same MM2x PC's from my amps to the Opus unit. I will use one Opus PC to connect the Powerisolater to the wall. My pre-amp will still be connected to the Denali since the Opus unit only offers two connections.

Curious what you think.

After running only Shunyata power products for years, I made the switch to Transparent. At the time, I had a full loom of Shunyata Sigma Analogs, Digital or HC's into a Triton v2, Typhon and DPC-6v2.

I now have 3 Transparent Opus Isolators, and a full loom of Opus or Opus Source power cords. I felt the resolution, the textures, warmth on the notes and enjoyability was better. Very similar to Transparent's signal cabling. So the synergy factor here is seems at play. I made the switch one or two cables at a time and each had the same outcome. I have my upsampler and clock into one Opus Isolator. The DAC and Trans into another Opus Isolator. And the phono and preamp into a 3rd Isolator. I did keep the Shunyata DPC-6v2. The turntable motor controller (a digital computer in my case), NAS drive and router are all plugged into this. My amps to the wall, both with their own Transparent Opus cords. The Typhon in parallel with the amps, even with the Opus Cords was helpful...hard to let that go, but I bought mono amps and couldn't swing a 2nd Typhon. I may come back to these down the road in parallel with my amps...

I will say Shunyata's price/performance ratio is better. You get a LOT less money. You can't go wrong with Shunyata.

If you have Transparent interconnects and speaker cabling, you will likely find synergies here and a pleasing outcome.
