I was thinking selling the 800 for the 800s and add the Wireworld cable, but the total out of pockect was a lot and I figured that the signature was near the same, I may still get a new cable.

Also Senn has a program I think it runs about $350ish for the HD800, you send it in, they completely rebuild them new drivers and new pads etc. They wont swap or let you pay the diff for the S model

OH Well I still like them, I have little issues either with the treble with my Woo tube amp.

PS I did get a different brand to complement my lineup of Senns I own

All in all if I was going to get new a 800 model I think I would lean towards to S model.. Is suppose to have a little more punch which I feel is lacking a few db is all i in the lower than 100 Hz ranges

I agree

And dont forget that some of the best audiophile labels like http://www.2l.no/ and http://www.soundliaison.com/ actually use them when recording. If they start using the ''s'' I will consider upgrading.

+1

I am in the market for a new pair (upgrading from my long serving AKG K701s). Spent about an hour with both using a Woo Audio WA22 and PS Audio DS DAC with Cardas Clear cables.

A/B comparison was hard to pick if one was better than the other. I would find it extremely hard to pick which is the newer one in a blind test.

MD has a open box sale last night on one HD800S, so took the plunge (had HD800's but sold them when I went to a non-headphone jack'd VAC Signature Mark II preamp).

Called MD this morning and inquired if they would exchange the stock cable for a demo Cardas Clear 3M. The individual at MD I spoke with put me on hold, came back and said they have a 3M demo available, etc., etc. Told him I'd take it too.

However; this evening when I opened the invoice, it's a 2M.

Both due in Friday & plan on calling the sales guy back Thursday & go from there. Need a 3M for sure.

Looking forward to listening late at night with the reputable Sennheiser & replace my Koss Pro 4AA's ().
