Went and tried to play with one in person today. Case seemed like a high density plastic and not a metal alloy as I expected, although I have to say it could be a thin alloy, didnt want to scratch it to be sure but saleman was leaning towards it being plastic.

Large touch dial on the top face is annoying, I’d much rather have actual buttons. Both myself and salesman kept hitting it and trying to get it to work before he deduced the battery must be dead again. He felt it had been on the charger, but no way to check battery level and no indicator lights to let you know it’s operating. But most important question is “how does it sound”? I wouldnt know as I wasnt going to wait around an hour or so for it to charge. He seemed to think the internal DAC was going to be lightyears ahead of my AK380 (32-bit/192kHz with “HXD” vs. 32bit/384kHz with PEQ, VCXO/femto clock). I am very unhappy with the AK interface and would be willing to give up audio quality on the go in exchange for a better library interface, or just being able to improve my itunes output, so was hoping this mha50 would be a good compromise. Oh well, guess its been over a year already I’ve waited so whats a few more weeks while the sales staff gets familiar with it
