The fidelity of pop music peaked somewhere in the 70's and since the 80's has been in steady decline.

It's a pity, but the cost of making a classic album these days is prohibitive, and has been for so long now that even if someone stumped up the cash they would have great trouble finding a producer and some engineers who had the know-how to do it.

Excellent video...we could title it "The dumbing down of modern society via music...." . Lest we start on the detriment to communications and intelligence caused by Social Media platforms 😎!

Those sources are more than enough music for a lifetime.

Nothing new is needed.
We have a Sonos system throughout our office and lab space and someone thoughtfully selected the best of the 1970's from Google Play Music this morning.
10CC? Journey? Foreigner? BTO? Seriously?? Developing a dull throb between my eyes...

I know, I know, Stones, Dire Straits, Joni Mitchell,.....

Lots of good music being made by folks willing to search for it.

Jason Isbell, Incredible Stringdusters and the Sadies continue to impress me with new releases.

Geezers have been turning out some great stuff lately (David Crosby, Stills/Collins, Rusty Young et al.)

Love finding new and interesting "jazz" from ECM like Nik Bartsch, Marcin Waselewski, Mathias Eick and Anouar Brahem.

2 releases that impressed the hell out of me this year were unfortunately posthumous releases from Gregg Allman (Southern Blood) and Leon RUssell (On a distant shore).

Some fine music still being made by real musicians.

IN my 6th decade and much to my wife's chagrin, I will keep searching for new sounds.

By and large I've given up and just look to classical and jazz.
