Tom...some people like the retro simple ARC look, others hate it. I obviously like it How are those 3.7s treating you? How many hours have you put on them (fully broken in)? I am sure they are sounding great

Stephen, why would you choose over McIntosh MA6600/7000?

Bill,
I like the 7000 but the ARC has slimmer lines, no meters and runs very cool. A better remote. I just like it, The 7000 is great too. ARC Doesn't have a phono stage though... |

If I didn't like the functionality of the DSi200 so much for my kids I'd definitely contemplate using the DS450 with the Soph3s. |

Thanks Aerosmith, that's helpful.
I have a pair of Salon2s. I'm considering the Mc and ARC electronics. I really like the new ARC LS27. Listened to the DS225 but have not been able to listen to the DS450. The 225 sounded a bit too analytical with not enough bottom end. So, I've been wondering if the 450 is going to have the same sound characteristics and enough power for the Salons. Currently, I'm leaning towards the ARC & Mc combo - LS27 with either the Mc MC452 or 601s. Your comments have me wondering again about the DS450. Thanks, Mike |

Listened to some Diane Krall on the DSi200/Soph3s yesterday. Man, is it me, or does this amp have a really nice tube-like warmth? I know it's apples and oranges due to speakers and room, but I'm really liking the DSi200 a lot more than the DS450 right now. The integrated seems to have that certain something that the big amp lacks. Maybe it's the "forgiving" nature of the Sophias...
