I'm interested in replacing my Wireworld Silver Electra 7 power cords. They have upgrade Platinum plugs on them. Where is a good place to start in the Audioquest power cord line-up?

Consider the AA Wireworld Black Friday special, and order a Platinum Electra power cord or two. Substantial performance jump compared to Silver Electra. The place in the AQ line-up to start is NRG Wild or NRG Wel, and their prices are so not user friendly.

I had two one meter Platinum Electra 7 power cords. In my system I thought my 2 meter, with Platinum plugs, Silver Electra 7 power cords sound too close to call. I talked to Wireworld and they said their power cords are designed to have a greater impact when it's at least two meters. They agreed that a two meter Silver Electra with upgraded Platinum plugs will out perform a one meter Platinum power cord. There was a substantial difference when I compared the standard Silver Electra power cord to the Platinum, but I want to move away from Wireworld. To my ears the Audioquest Fire is a substantial performance jump over the Wireworld Platinum Eclipse 7. I recently compared Audience AU24 SX speaker cable to Wireworld Silver Eclipse 7. I prefer the Audience in everyway compared to Wireworld Silver Eclipse 7. In comparison, the Silver Eclipse are bright. So, through listening I've concluded they're better options for my system than Wireworld.

This is all System-dependent, but I’ve found comparable priced WireWorld power cords superior in every way to Audioquest until you get up to the NRG Wild level, which costs more than Platinum Electra for similar performance. Haven’t tried the new triple power cords, but can’t recommend NRG-1000 and below since they don’t get out of the way like WireWorld Elektra line does with McIntosh and Marantz Reference gear. Maybe high-end Audioquest power cords will appeal more to you in your system, experimentation can get costly when purchasing new cables, good luck finding your sound!

I agree.. it's all system dependant. It's trying to find my preferred cable within my price range.

An educated guess would be that the Hurricane should have the edge between 7000/wall (where current demands are high), and the WEL between the 7000/REF6 (lower current demand favors metal quality?). I hope that's the case, so that I can stick WELs on the phono/pre and not want for additional Hurricanes/Dragons right away. Either way, this will be an upgrade from what I've got now.
@mulveling, how did you go with the AQ power cables?

I finally got the Hurricane last Friday! Beast of a cord. As for sound -- not quite what I was expecting, yet, but I need to get some serious hours on it before actual judgement. This is for going from the wall to an AQ Niagara 7000 that powers my entire system. Sure it sounds great, but I can't help but feel that the sound with the WEL Signature NRG is a little more lively, and details pop a bit more. Maybe my system doesn't have TOO much instantaneous current demand with the 96dB Tannoys at the end of things. And of course this is pitting the $4K list prior flagship silver cord vs. a $1.3K copper cord.

My 2 WEL cords are the older version plugs/braid; got them at deep discount from a guy that was upgrading to Dragons for his amps (very expensive $$$$). That seller has reported a large preference for the new Dragons over these WELs.

Hmm interesting, was thinking of trying out a Thunder cord, to feed my Niagara 1000, instead of the Wireworld Eclipse I'm currently using.
