Any speculation as to how the Foundation processor will compare with the S-1200?

That's a very good question, but apparently Krell themselves say it's not as good, which is how it should be given the price differential. Hopefully it comes close though.

The bigger question is how it will compare to it's price neighbors: Mac MX121, Cary Cinema 12, Arcam 888, and how much better it is (hopefully) compared to the lower price champs: Marantz av8801 and integra DHC80.3.

I agree completely! I would love to know how it compares to all of theones you listed. Regarding my question, I should have been more specific. I'm looking for the best hdmi audio among processors and I'm not worried about 2 channel. I thought the Foundation might be close the S-1200, if only considering hdmi audio.

Assume that depends alot on the dacs and dac implementation within the Foundation, but I would venture a guess that it may be closer on the HDMI/digital side of things as compared to the analog preamp side (I think working in a great preamp adds alot more cost, and would be the likely place to cut back, although I'm purely guessing here)

Yes, I like the site. Seems like a lot of great information, and folks actually get along here, as opposed to "some other" forums. What do I need to do?

Thanks, Dave

Hi Rich. Sent you a PM, but just checking in to see if the S1200 is still as good as it seemed out of the gate? I tried a Marantz AV8801, but not crazy about it so going back to the all-in-one-box solution, and I've narrowed it down to Krell S1200 or Classe SSP-800 (I've knocked out the Bryston SP3 due to quirky operation, poor manual, and no EQ).

I can't forget your comment about how favorably it compared to your Ref5, which is a remarkable feat. Really the only thing holding me back is the lack of reviews and forum comments reinforcing it's performance (compared to the Classe and Bryston, which have had enormous and unanimous acclaim). Oh, and the fact that I can get the Classe for a significantly lower price, which always helps
