In my case, it's mostly through a local record store, Amazon for the more obscured
offerings and HDTracks for remastered/hi-res albums.

Remember buyer beware with used media. I generally know what I am wanting prior to a purchase and tend to execute accordingly. In the case above, I was curious and knew that this particular title was not in the above stated format. Nevertheless, it is a great example of getting burned. Inspect your purchase whenever possible. Regards

Downloads. I get the discs and rip them only if a download is not available.

Local oxfam/thrift shops, amazon. Cd's all the way, since I lost my passion for in ears/headphones. Mind you I still like my mp3 player with amp from time to time, and it still sounds great, just don't need to add downloads to 'em. Variety was the spice of life in my download years.

Over the last couple of years I have switched from 95% Amazon and 5% downloads to 95% Tidal added to my Roon library with the remaining 5% split between Amazon and downloads.
This has reduced the clutter of CD's and culling my music library significantly. |

Google the words: "High Res Streaming: Tidal VS. Qobuz" and the article (at least in my browser is the fifth one down the list. (Sorry I cannot post a link, per rules) Very interesting and detailed actual comparison from an interested And to my eyes unbiased, user. No discussion comparing DSD though. (I have to say my Marantz SA-10 does wonderful job on CD to DSD decoding) I found this via a post from James Tanner of Bryston. So credit is his. As for where I get music? I have stopped buying music, and am actually culling my LP and CD collections. Weeding the junk out. Sadly I am a creature of habit. I LIKE the stuff I have, and really do not seek out new music at all at this time. MY last big enlargement of my musical sphere was late 1990's when I finally became interested in Jazz (all due to The DVD series Ken Burns Jazz) and I acquired thousands of albums in both CD an LP format. Almost all locally from a really great used record store |

CDs/SACDs: Amazon and Presto Classical for the most part.
Hi res files: HDTracks, ProStudioMasters, Presto Classical, and E-Classical. LPs: Amazon and Discogs I occasionally purchase all three from independent labels. |

Good review! Thank you for posting. I don't think a link is forbidden, there is no commercial interest. https://www.soundstagesimplifi.com/i...tidal-vs-qobuz
