I find that to be very source-dependent. I have some cd's that would be at around 50 on the volume, and some that would be around 60.

Quite, the varying levels of the individual tracks on some albums can drive you bonkers at times, not always compilation albums neither.

I might need to take a look at the XLR betwixt Pre/power as the HiZ on my current Ref MM2's may well be playing their part in having to crank up the Big Green Number ATM. Running ML CLX's doesn't help much either

Jasper.

Yes it was...

"The KT150 will make its Audio Research premier with the new G-Series, but testing is ongoing to check viability with all current model offerings. The only drawback to this tube is its cost - at double the price of a KT120, the KT150 may be offered as an upgrade to existing models for an additional charge, but it is not intended to replace the KT120 as our stock output tube."

And here is a direct link to the first newsletter: ARC's newsletter n°1.

Typically, but with caveats mentioned above, my system gets rock'n pretty good once the volume level is above 55 on the REF10 and while playing vinyl, which also can have some loudness variation between LPs.

I'd have to say I frequently listen at 60 - 63, seldom to 65 - 66 which starts to be too loud for my comfort and pushes peaks well into the +100 range. I can't say I've measured what 70 on the scale gets me in dbs, its just too loud unless we have a party and folks are dancing. I couldn't take that for more than a couple tracks.
