The Pass & Seymour hospital grade receptacles are a quality product as well for audio applications.

Thanks for all the suggestions on receptacles. I will tell my electrician I want to use hospital grade. I still need to determine whether I will run my two sets of outlets on a single 20 amp circuit or pay for him to run two separate ones in phase. That will come down to cost.

So the electrician just left and since I had more work other then the 20amp circuits he's going to e-mail a quote. I had asked to use 10/3 for the 20amp runs and he thought that was overkill. He also asked if I wanted the 20amp circuits to share the same neutral? I told him I would let him know as I didn't understand what difference it would make and after just a little reading I'm thinking the answer should be no, someone please correct me if I'm wrong. In all I'm doing seven recessed cans, 4 in my audio room and three in the hall, two ceiling fan boxes (one in the audio room and one in a spare bedroom), and while he's here one more outdoor GFI box which will give me eight total around my homes exterior.

I would use 10/2 with a 20 amp breaker for each outlet in single gange plastic boxes......no need for 10/3 and don't share the N

Don.......If you want to use 10 gauge wire, and it is type NM cable (Romex), 10/2/with ground is what you need for each circuit. You cannot share a neutral (white wire) with two 20 amp circuits on the same phase. The electrician may have been confused when you requested 10/3. To him that means three 10 gauge insulated conductors plus the ground inside the jacketed cable. What you want is two separate cable runs of type NM 10/2/with ground, each terminated to its own 20 amp circuit breaker on the same phase in your service panel.

I have tried several Hubbells......my favorites are the older 8300 model with the unplated swipes and non magnetic back strap, I didn't notice bright or harsh from them, there really nice sounding outlets at a fair price.....unfortunatly Hubbell made a material change to the 8300, they now are tin or nickel plated with a steel back strap (highly magnetic) and they do differ soundwise. Tin or nickel plating is used more so for harsh enviorments and really not needed fo audio. My preference do not favor tin or nickel plating on Any outlet......YMMV
